Janina Simone Kulcsar doesn’t talk about the material world. Quite the contrary: she presents us her personal notion of the world: between image and reflection, presence and memory. Of importance are not the objects in her photos but the associations with them. She plays with different shapes, colours and acuity, so that the image would make the viewer move and trigger him to develop his own reality from it. Other photos are concentrated into an abstract landscape, a photographic drawing. None of Kulcsar’s photos are digitally edited. Instead she produces photographic filters herself, shoots through glass, presents the world, plants or trees through a layer of ice, blurred, washed out, keeping the balance between figuration and abstraction carefully.
