These images of Berlin were taken in the city center as well as in the suburbs where Diane Meyer followed the path of the former Berlin Wall. She photographed the entire 140 km circumference of the former Wall as well as additional related sites. Sections of the photographs have been obscured by cross-stitch embroidery sewn directly into the photograph. In many images, the embroidered areas represent the exact location and scale of the Wall and becomes a trace in the landscape of the past. The embroidery takes on the appearance of digital pixelation suggesting a link between fading memory and digital file corruption.
