This is a universe that continues to evolve through time by producing and reproducing enigmatic installations that, haunted by mysteries, elicit one’s aesthetic perception as much as they arouse one’s desire for apprehension.

This investigation transforms Morawetz into an alchemist grappling with the magic of matter and practical experiments as she moves between her studio and her laboratory where she does all her prints. Having come to photography gradually after studying painting, sculpture, and engraving at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, echoes of all these practices remain highly present in her work and rise to the surface here and there.

The other works, all of which result from some photographic process, are done on paper, glass, or metal. each time, the material participates in the meaning of the work and in the aim of artist, who is always pushing her investigations further in order to find the media best adapted to giving expression to her universe made up of dreams and visions. Morawetz invents arcana to execute her works, giving them life, balance, suppleness. Her convex, square, oval, or round custom-made glass pieces, balloon-shaped by hand, come from a glass workshop. In her laboratory, they are treated with a silver photosensitive emulsion. then exposed, just like the dented, reflective metal plates treated with a wet collodion solution where the image appears immediately and the final work is made right before the artist’s eyes without awaiting any postproduction manipulations. The studio becomes the theater in which Morawetz invents her staged productions. ….
