Found photographs, vintage household catalogs and old encyclopedias serve as the source material for Blanca Amoró's paintings. Through her work, the artist uncovers the ideologies underlying the photographs. With a satirical eye, her paintings playfully criticize historical ideas about gender roles, with particular attention to the role of women as care givers. The hodgepodge of found photographs, combined with Amorós' work, replicates familiar images that resonate in the viewer's visual memory. They invite the audience to reflect on the absurdity of cultural narratives that shape our identity. They reveal how we adapt to social norms.
