“Desire” is a story of a real wedding dress I received as a gift before my wedding which never took place. Left with the object I started working with it. It is the dress who is the main heroine here – and its story represents a story of how objects and things rule our life…. The Dress was photographed in a nearby photo studio against traditional hand painted kitschy backgrounds, another session took place in a Warsaw park. While in India (where my honeymoon was supposed to take place) the dress and I visited a local photo studio, and had a primitive photo session done. The Dress was borrowed (Swedish bathroom ad session, lesbian wedding magazine photo session, an American friend’s book project) and even danced in…“Dechirer” is the second phase of the dress’s story – of how an individual frees from the power of an object. After I asked an old needlewoman to sew a number of dress copies for me I had more objects at my disposal to work with – to photograph, videotape and destroy… Each object gets destroyed in a different way – gets torn, painted black, or burnt….
